Government Contracts Register
The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act) requires agencies to publish information on contracts valued $150,000 or over made with the private sector.
Classes of government contract under the GIPA Act:
Class 1
- contracts with a value of $150,000 or more.
Class 2
- contracts not subject to tender, not made publicly available and terms negotiated directly with contractor
- contracts subject to tender with terms substantially negotiated
- contracts containing an obligation for maintenance or operations of infrastructure for 10 years or more
- contracts involving a privately financed project
- contracts involving transfer of significant asset/s of an agency to another party in exchange for transfer of asset/s to the agency.
Class 3
- Class 2 contracts with a value of $5million or more.
How long contracts are published for:
The information on the contracts register (including additional information as required by the GIPA Act if applicable) will be available for 20 working days or:
- until the project which a contract relates to is complete; or
- the goods and services under a contract have been provided; or
- the term of a lease which is subject to a contract has expired; or
- a property which is subject to a contract has been transferred.
