Flood Rate Relief Application

Richmond Valley Council is here to help our community.  At Council’s 15 March meeting, a range of measures to help support our flood-affected community were adopted.

This support package is for ratepayers whose properties have flooded and for ratepayers who have been financially impacted as a result of the February-March flood events. Applications for financial assistance will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Waiver of interest on overdue rates until 31 December 2022

Council will pause interest on overdue rates and charges on all properties within the Richmond Valley Council area from 1 March until 31 December 2022.

Natural Disaster Financial Hardship

Residents experiencing financial hardship as a result of the recently declared natural disaster can make an application for rate relief consideration – please refer to the natural disaster financial hardship policy for eligibility.  Eligible residents should complete the financial hardship application and email it to council@richmondvalley.nsw.gov.au for processing.

Privacy Protection Notice

The completed financial hardship – natural disaster application form contains personal information which is being collected for the purpose of assessing the eligibility for rating financial relief.

The information will be processed by the Richmond Valley Council Organisational Services Division and will be stored in Council’s electronic document management system.

Provision of the information is voluntary, however, if insufficient information is provided, Council will be unable to process the application.
