Under the Impounding Act, we have the power to impound any vehicle, article or animal that has been abandoned in a public place.

Rangers are authorised to issue penalty infringement notices, but only for certain offences under specific acts such as: The NSW and Australian Road Rules, the NSW Local Government Act; the NSW Companion Animals Act, the NSW Impounding Act, the NSW Protection of the Environment Operations Act & regulations, the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, the NSW Rural Fires Act & regulations.
