Community based heritage studies were completed for Richmond Valley LGA in 2008 and the former Copmanhurst Shire in 2004. These studies included preparation of thematic histories which supported the process of identifying items of heritage significance.
The studies culminated in Heritage Listing 189 items and a heritage conservation area. These are listed within Schedule 5 of the Richmond Valley LEP 2012 and shown on the corresponding Heritage (HER) Maps, which can be viewed at the NSW Legislation website :

Casino CBD Heritage Conservation Area – Main Street Audit August 2020
The last heritage survey of Casino Main Street precinct was undertaken by Jane Gardiner in 2002-2004 for the Community Based Heritage Study. This identified significant historic items and led to the formal protection of the Casino CBD Heritage Conservation Area.
The aim of this report is to provide an ‘audit’ of the buildings within Casino CBD Heritage Conservation Area and nearby sites to identify potential for conservation works to maintain and conserve the heritage values of historic and contributory buildings and their settings.
