Anzac Day is the solemn day of remembrance of those Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who have fought and died for their country, and is marked annually on the anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War. The Richmond Valley is host to multiple services in our towns and villages. Please see the details below with more information added as it becomes available.
Community Dawn Service
5.45am – Assemble at Cenotaph at the Riley’s Hill Broadwater Hall for a community service and breakfast
5.15am – Fall in at the Casino RSM Club on Canterbury Street and march to the Mafeking Lamp on Walker and Barker Street intersection. Dawn service will end at approximately 5.50am
10.00am – Assemble in Graham Place. March begins at 10.15am from Graham Place, down Walker Street to Canterbury Street for the Anzac Day Service in front of the Casino RSM Club.
4.55pm – Short ceremony at the Mafeking Lamp on the Walker and Barker Street intersection.
Community Day Service
9am – Assemble at Coraki Hotel, Richmond Terrace. March begins at 10am from Coraki Hotel to the cenotaph in the park on Richmond Terrace for the Anzac Day Service. Road will reopen at 11.30am.
5.20am – Fall in on Woodburn Street in front of the Richmond Valley Council Library and march at 5.30am down McDonald Place to the Memorial Gardens. Service begins at 5.45am and ends at approximately 6.30am. A breakfast will be held for our Veterans and will be served first. Community are invited to attend the breakfast.
Wreath Laying Service
8.30am – At Evans Head Aerodrome
9.00am – At the Evans Head Memorial Cemetery
9.45am – Assemble on Park Street outside the ambulance station. March commences at 10am turning onto Woodburn Street and down to the Woodburn – Evans Head RSL.
5.30am – At the Anzac Memorial on Nandabah Street.
10.30am – Fall in and march from the Rappville Post Office to the Anzac Memorial on Nandabah Street.
Community Day Service
9.45am – Assemble at Woodburn Post Office, River Street. Procession will commence at 10am along the Pacific Highway to the Cenotaph. Ceremony will conclude at approximately 10.30am.
