Country music stars headline new community event

SOME of the biggest country music stars in Australia are heading to Casino next year as part of the inaugural Super Sunday Family Fun Day.

Tasmanian-born The Wolfe Brothers will headline the free event at Queen Elizabeth Park on Sunday 22 January, alongside singer-songwriter Catherine Britt and popular local musicians The Billy Gudgeon Band. New talent Jarrod Hickling will get the crowd warmed up.

The day is not all about music though; the event will also feature an array of attractions and great food options, such as amusement rides, market stalls, food vans, craft beer, a show n shine and full bar facilities. A full day of entertainment will be capped by an impressive fireworks display.

Richmond Valley Council was granted $301,708 under the NSW Government’s Reconnecting Regional NSW – Community Events Program to deliver events across our community.

Council has already supported the Broadwater and Rappville end-of-year gatherings, and will be hosting a two-day festival in the Mid Richmond later in 2023.

Council’s Manager Community Connection Sharon Davidson said she could not wait to help celebrate the community’s resilience.

“It’s our time to give back to the incredibly hard-working people of the Richmond Valley,” Ms Davidson said.

“We want to start 2023 strongly by bringing some of the hottest music talent to town to celebrate the hard work everyone has been putting in throughout the past year.

“We encourage the community to come out for a great night with friends and family.

“While there is plenty of seating around the ground, for those wishing to get up close and personal with the musicians we advise bringing a chair or rug.”

Super Sunday Family Fun Day is for people out of the region as much as it is for locals.

Gates will open at 2pm, with live music starting at 4pm.
