Razorback Lookout Upgrade

Razorback Lookout Upgrade

Sitting 45m above sea level and offering commanding northern views across the township of Evans Head and beyond, Razorback Lookout is a key drawcard for visitors to the Mid Richmond and a major feature of the town.

For visitors, it also acts as a gateway to a unique variety of coastal walks through Dirrawong Reserve and the breathtaking views from Goanna Headland.

To inform the Razorback Lookout improvement project, Council staff initially held consultation meetings with stakeholders, including the Dirrawong Reserve Trust and the Evans Head Business and Community Chamber.

In November 2019, the Council released a draft master plan for upgrading the site, which featured several improvements, and sought community feedback.

Council received $400,000 through the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI) to redevelop the lookout. The works, which were completed in 2022, included new picnic shelters, BBQ facilities, toilets, car parks, and signage.
