Disaster Recovery Centre to aid those impacted by floods

Article published: 8 March, 2022

RICHMOND Valley Council and the NSW Government have established a Disaster Recovery Centre to provide information, assistance, and help for residents and business owners who were affected by the recent flooding events.

The Recovery Centre is open six days a week until further notice, and is located in the Casino Community Centre. It will open tomorrow at 10am, however, hours of operation going forward will be Monday-Friday 9am to 4pm, and Saturday 8am-1.30pm.

Recovery specialists will help flood-impacted residents apply for assistance and provide recovery information to homeowners, renters, business owners, primary producers, sport and recreation clubs and non-for-profit organisations and churches.

Some of the services may include:

• Financial assistance
• Support for businesses
• Insurance and legal support
• Accommodation advice
• Relevant charitable services
• Mental health and wellbeing services
• Replacing lost ID

A Disaster Recovery Centre will also be set up in the Mid Richmond, once a suitable location is found.
