Casino Suspension Bridge

Casino Suspension Bridge

Richmond Valley Council is moving forward with the design and construction of a new suspension bridge over the Richmond River, connecting McAuliffe Park with Queen Elizabeth Park in Casino. The bridge will be a valuable addition to the Richmond Valley, enhancing safety and connectivity.

The project has received $3,505,767 in funding through the Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Package – Community Assets Program. Council has accepted the tender from Forge Outdoors Pty Ltd (formerly Fleetwood Urban) to deliver the project.

The existing Casino Footbridge has sustained repeated damage during recent flood events, prompting the need for a more resilient structure in a new location. The new suspension bridge will provide an accessible shared path for both pedestrians and cyclists, improving connectivity between key recreational spaces and the town centre. The structure will be built above flood levels and designed to withstand strong river flows, ensuring improved reliability and safety during major weather events.

Construction is expected to commence in September 2025 with completion anticipated by the end of June 2026.
