Boundary Creek access closed to recreational four-wheel driving

To assist with the closure of South Ballina Beach, Richmond Valley Council will close the Boundary Creek access point to Broadwater Beach.

Recreational four-wheel drivers can still access a 4.6km stretch of Airforce Beach below the high-tide mark north to the coffee rock. Motorists are reminded driving on the coffee rock is prohibited.

Pedestrian access to Airforce and Broadwater beaches will remain unrestricted.

Secured four-wheel drive access points using lock and key will be maintained for emergency services, commercial fishers and Aboriginal groups at Boundary Creek.

Following complaints from the local community about traffic offences and anti-social behaviour by some 4WD users, Council had approved additional funding for extra ranger patrols during peak periods.

Council will continue to work with Ballina Shire Council, NSW Police, Crowns Lands and the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Residents and visitors are being urged to report to report bad behaviour on beaches.
