ACTIVATION of the Richmond Valley Regional Job Precinct reached another milestone this week, with construction starting on Australia Post’s new parcel delivery centre with a building envelope of 2700 sqm.

The new facility, which will be developed by Snowy Valley Developments, is in Richmond Valley Council’s Reynolds Road industrial estate in Casino and will open the way for further investment in the Precinct.

Richmond Valley Council General Manager Vaughan Macdonald welcomed the start of construction and said the project demonstrated Council’s commitment to attracting industry, building employment opportunities, and supporting sustainable growth.

“This is a proud moment for our community,” Mr Macdonald said. “The new centre will create more jobs for local families and open the way for future investment in the precinct.

“The Australia Post facility will boost the region’s role in freight logistics increase opportunities for local businesses and ensure residents receive more reliable services.”

Australia Post General Manager Planning and Infrastructure Darren Mackenzie said they were excited to commence works on the new Casino delivery centre.

“The centre will help strengthen our operations and improve services for the local community,” Mr Mackenzie said.

“Investing in regional centres like Casino is a key priority for us as we build for the future, and we look forward to opening later this year.”

Snowy Valley Developments Managing Director Tom Quilty said they were excited to partner with Australia Post and Richmond Valley Council to create a thoughtful and considered development for the area.

“As a developer based in in regional Australia, we are pleased to be able to bridge the gap between national brands and regional areas to help create long-lasting jobs and economic benefit to the region,” Mr Quilty said.

“We are proud to be using local contractors to deliver this project.”

Council has taken a proactive approach to support new industrial growth in the Richmond Valley and Mr Macdonald said it was great to see that this investment was starting to deliver real benefits for the community.

“The industrial estate in Reynolds Road provides space for major industry to grow and Council continues to receive enquiries from other businesses who are keen to relocate to this precinct,” Mr Macdonald said.

“We are also partnering with the Australian and NSW governments in a new $13 million investment to activate opportunities for lighter industry in the new Patricia Street precinct where the new roundabout is being constructed on the eastern edge of Casino.

“As industry expands, demand for housing, services, and community infrastructure will also increase, and Council is planning for those future needs now. We were delighted to receive additional funding from the NSW Government last week to prepare detailed designs for enabling infrastructure to support up to 1500 new homes at Fairy Hill nearby the Regional Job Precinct.

“Council welcomes this continued growth and looks forward to the completion of the Australia Post project. This development reinforces the Richmond Valley’s reputation in our region as a great place to live, invest and help your business grow.”
