Proposal to name multiple unnamed roads

Under the Roads Act 1993, Council proposes to name the following unnamed roads.

Any person may make a written submission by addressing to the General Manager via one of the following methods:

  • Email to council@richmondvalley.nsw.gov.au
  • Fill out a Make a Submission form on Councils Website www.richmondvalley.nsw.gov.au
  • By post— Richmond Valley Council, Locked Bag 10 CASINO NSW 2470
  • By hand delivery to a Council Administration Centre—Casino or Evans Head.

Submissions close 29 August 2023.


Proposed Road Name – Avenmore Lane, Greenridge

Avenmore Lane, located off the Casino Coraki Road, and south of Haydons Road, measuring approximately 694m in length, providing access to surrounding rural properties.

The origin of the road name is derived from ‘Avenmore Farm’ being the historical name of the farm connecting to the road.

Proposed Road Name – Burton Road, Mongogarie

Burton Road is located off Mongogarie Road and approximately 430m from the Busbys Flat Road intersection.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mrs Yvonne Burton’ as identified within historical property information

Proposed Road Name – Holloway Road, Casino

Holloway Road is located off the Bruxner Highway and ends at the intersection of Llewellyns Road, the stretch of road measures approximately 300m in length.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mr T. L. Holloway’ as identified on historical parish maps.

Proposed Road Name – Hull Lane, Woodburn

Hull Lane is located of The Gap Road, Woodburn and runs south for approximately 1.4km.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mrs Avis Mary Hull’ as identified on historical parish maps.

Proposed Road Name – Jefferies Street and Morton Street, Coraki

The first section of Richmond Terrence North is proposed to be renamed Morton Street as a continuation of the already named road from the intersection of Morton Street to Dawson Street, measuring approximately 1.56km.

The second section of Richmond Terrence North is proposed to be renamed Jefferies Street due to the duplication of road names within Coraki. Jefferies Street is located off Casino Coraki Road and finishes at the intersection of Morton Street, measuring approximately 3.65km in length.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mr G. A. Jefferies’ as identified on historical parish maps.

Proposed Road Name – Joan Street, Woodburn

Joan Street is located between Donaldson Street and Uralba Street, originally known as Watson Street.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mrs Joan Roots.’ Mrs Roots lived on the corner of Watson Street for over sixty years, she was a well-known and much-respected person of Woodburn, who was involved in many community-based organisations and received an OAM for her community work.

Proposed Road Name – Melaleuca Road, New Italy

Melaleuca Road is located off Swan Bay New Italy Road and travels east for approximately 2km.

The origin of the road name is from the Melaleuca trees located within the New Italy area.

Proposed Road Name – Patrica Street, Casino

Patrica Street is located off Johnston Street, just before the Bruxner Highway, the road travels north for approximately 485m.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Patrica Muriel Gill’ as identified within historical property information.

Proposed Road Name – Seller Lane, Casino

Seller Lane is a non-through road located off Horseshoe Lagoon Road, travelling south for approximately 181m.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mr T. T. Seller’ as identified on historical parish maps.

Proposed Road Name – Thomas Road, Busbys Flat

Thomas Road is located off Busbys Flat Road travelling south and ends at the Mount Belmore State Forest, measuring approximately 1.6km in length.

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mr Thomas S Cole’ as identified on historical parish maps.

Proposed Road Name – Tomkinsons Road, Backmede

Tomkinsons Road is located off Backmede Road Backmede, the road travels in a north easterly direction for approximately 985m.

The origin of the road name is derived from the Tomkinsons Dip Site that was used in the early 1990’s by local residents, the dip site was decommissioned in 1998. The name is also located on the Kyogle Historical parish maps.

Proposed Road Name – Willows Road, Evans Head

Willows Road is located off Blue Pool Road, travelling in a south easterly direction for approximately 445m

The origin of the road name is derived from past historical land owner ‘Mr Harry Willows’ as identified on historical parish maps.
