Airforce Beach Evans Head – Future Beach Management Consultation

Council is currently reviewing vehicle and pedestrian access arrangements to Airforce Beach via Terrace Street Evans Head

We are seeking input from community, government agencies, businesses and community organisations to help guide future beach access management decisions.

  • Description: Maintain current vehicle access arrangements.
  • Intent: Existing enforcements by Council, NPWS and Police enhanced (e.g. speed limits, designated areas). No major changes for users, additional signage to be put in place by stakeholders and government agencies. Promote user awareness.
  • Pros: Familiar system, minimal disruption
  • Cons: Opportunities remain to address environmental concerns or safety concerns.
  • Description: Introduce a permit system / restrict access at certain times / potential curfew periods.
  • Intent: Controlled access to reduce environmental impact and improve safety.
  • Pros: Allows access with oversight.
  • Cons: Requires administrative resources; cost and adjustment period for users.
  • Description: Prohibit vehicles from accessing the beach (except for authorised users)
  • Intent: Restrict motorised vehicles from beach.
  • Pros: Offers environmental benefits; enhanced non-vehicular uses.
  • Cons: 4WD access is closed
