A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
This is an enjoyable read because of the fascinating characters and the interesting and unusual plot. The gentleman of the title is Count Rostov sentenced to house arrest in a grand hotel near the Kremlin. He is a very attractive hero, an aristocrat without airs, who has to live in an attic room during tumultuous years in Russia’s history but who lives in a larger world through his close associations with other denizens of the hotel especially two young girls who grow to womanhood under his influence. It is an intriguing story and the characters are very appealing. Highly recommended.
