Reserve a copy of Sooley here.
I have read and enjoyed all of John Grisham’s books and there are quite a few. Most of his fiction books are courtroom dramas but this one is different and is about basketball.
Seventeen year old Samuel Sooleyman comes from a village in South Sudan where his basketball skills are noticed and he travels to the United States to fulfil his dream of playing basketball.
While “Sooley” is getting recognised in the US for basketball his family remains in war-torn community and become refugees.
The references to South Sudan and the civil war and the refugee camps are heartbreaking.
The book ends in a way I had not predicted but again it was another very enjoyable John Grisham book.
