What a great story! In the tradition of best British mysteries Andrea Frazer’s High-wired is the first book in her Fine Line series featuring fab fem detective duo DI Olivia Hardy and DS Lauren Groves. The story weaves its way through the deaths of four seemingly unrelated victims who’ve been brutally murdered by a gang of ruthless killers. Each death is more horrific than the last and sends a threatening message to the once ‘holiday must’ now decaying coastal community.
In the background of the killings are the struggles and daily discrimination faced by both Hardy and Groves’ as working Mums and ranking female police officers trying to do their job solve the case before another killing. Who are the gang of killers? What is their message and whose it for? Is the message for the community’s seedy criminals? Or are the recent family dramas of Hardy and Groves not just bad luck but somehow linked to the killings?
